TOPIC: How are cities becoming sustainable?
Join us to hear a tale of sustainability in two cities: Denver and Arvada. Our speakers will discuss the challenges they face in their urban and suburban cities while motivating their residents and businesses to become more sustainable. You will learn of the different issues that large and small cities face trying to engage their residents in issues, projects, and behaviors that would make their city function more efficiently, waste less, and become more livable and healthy.
Jerry Tinianow, Chief Sustainability Officer for the City of Denver
As Denver’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Jerry works to ensure that the critical resources upon which the City depends are available and affordable to everyone, now and in the future. Jerry previously directed the Center for Energy and Environment at the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, and served as the Executive Director of Audubon Ohio. Jerry practiced as a commercial trial attorney for over 20 year. He had a long career as a volunteer in conservation, including service as a vice president of The Sierra Club, which named him as one of its national “Environmental Heroes.”
Jessica Prosser, Sustainability Coordinator for the City of Arvada
Jessica Prosser, AICP is the Sustainability Coordinator for the City of Arvada, CO responsible for implementing policies and programs related to sustainability throughout the organization and community. Previously, Jessica worked in the Planning Division for the City of Arvada and organized environmental education at the University of Arizona. She has a Bachelors degree in Geography from the University of Arizona and a Masters in Urban Regional Planning from the University of Colorado.

Driving – I-70 west or east to Federal Boulevard. Head North to Regis Boulevard. Turn left (west) on Regis Boulevard (also known as 50th Avenue). There are 2 entrances to the campus located on Regis Boulevard (Lots 1 and 2) and one entrance (Lot 3) on Lowell Boulevard. Proceed either to Entrance 2 on Regis Boulevard or Entrance 3 on Lowell.
Entrance 2 provides access to the Dayton Memorial Library, The Felix Pomponio Family Science Center, and Loyola Hall. If you continue west on Regis Boulevard past Entrances 1 and 2, and turn right (north) on Lowell Boulevard, you may enter the campus at Entrance 3. Entrance 3 will provide access to the Student Center, the Dayton Memorial Library, and the Felix Pomponio Family Science Center. The Felix Pomponio Family Science Center is Building “T” on that map.
The Amphitheater is located on the first floor (up the stairs or ramp at the front entrance) to the right of the entrance area.
