Since 2008, with the assistance of the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment and our many community partners, iCAST has been a leading edge green jobs training provider. Our commitment to a trained workforce led iCAST to expand training services to a comprehensive, full-service training program in early 2012:

Pathways through Community Partnerships

Through ARRA funding provided by the US Department of Labor & Employment, iCAST had the opportunity to provide green jobs workforce training and certification for the underemployed, unemployed and incumbent workers with the following grants:

The iCAST Training program was originally developed through partnerships with local workforce agencies, industry partners, and state and community agencies across Colorado. As a technical organization, iCAST’s engineering team and partners developed and customized online and hands-on training with a focus on the green industry, including renewable energy, energy efficiency and green construction.

To date, iCAST has trained over 1,379 trainees in face-to-face classroom training, 3,513 online trainings and 962 individuals in certification training for OSHA, BPI and NABCEP. With a team focus, we have partnered with the following lead organizations to accomplish these goals:

Residential Energy Professional

This course will prepare trainees for BPI Building Analyst Certification and covers best practices and procedures for the audit process, including an in-depth look at building science, energy analysis and audit reporting. Trainees will then explore the building materials, mechanical and electrical systems common to energy efficiency upgrades, and their associated installation techniques (e.g., insulation, air sealing, and HVAC). Contractor Combustion Safety Testing

iCAST’s Contractor Combustion Safety Testing combines video demonstrations by industry experts with an interactive simulator exercise to enhance contractor’s knowledge and skillset of combustion appliance zones (CAZ) testing. CAZ Testing Simulator

iCAST’s CAZ Testing Simulator course is an interactive training game designed to accelerate the learning of CAZ safety testing. INTERCAZ is a cost-effective, comprehensive software tool that helps students and contractors master CAZ testing by engaging them into an absorbing, life-like training game, similar to that used for flight simulators used in pilot training. CAZ testing has proven to be the most difficult knowledge area for advanced certification training in energy efficiency, such as with the Building Performance Institute’s Building Analyst certification (BPI.org) — CAZ simulation is designed to give you an advantage during national certification testing.
