ICAST Registers New Carbon Credits
ICAST is excited to announce that we have posted a new carbon credit project on the GHG CleanProject Registry website that represents the reduction of over 7,000 tons of carbon emissions. The New Mexico (NM) Energy Conservation Measures Project illustrates the environmental benefits of delivering energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions in multifamily affordable housing (MFAH). It captures savings achieved through low-flow water devices (e.g., showerheads, bathroom or kitchen aerators); LEDs; smart thermostats; high-efficiency heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); and solar arrays that were delivered from 2018 through mid-2021. The work was conducted through the New Mexico Gas Company (NMGC) and Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) Demand-Side Management programs. ICAST manages the NMGC program and acts as a Trade Ally for solutions provided through PNM.
ICAST monetizes the value of emissions reductions achieved through our green retrofits for MFAH and uses the revenue to support our efforts to preserve affordable housing, mitigate climate change, and create local jobs. Emissions reductions reflect the amount of electricity a power plant does not need to produce. Our credits are calculated by converting energy savings into emissions reductions using methods verified by a certified third party.
